Welcome to our world!

My chinese name is Yin Ling and baby Minori's unofficial middle name is Yen. Both Yin and Yen mean swallow (as in the bird) in chinese. The same swallows that migrate to Malaysia in winter to escape the cold return to Japan when the weather begins to warm up. Like the swallows here, together with daddy, we make our trips between the two countries. Isn't it nice to have two places we can call home?

Seikai no dai ichi

The country is in euphoria once again. Following up from the previous blog, this afternoon Japan beat Cuba in the WBC finals to be the world's no. 1 in baseball! When Otsuka struck out the the last Cuban batter, Minori pumped her arms up and down from her high chair as I danced around the dining room. It's a national holiday here in Japan (not because of the baseball finals but Minori's dad seems to think that this was somehow planned to boost TV viewership, hence more commercial sponsorships) so the entire country got to watch it "live." What a moment! The usually together super-cool Ichiro Suzuki shed tears in his interviews... I've never seen him become emotional about anything, not even when he broke the 70-over year old record for most number of hits in a Major League season last year. Omedetou team Japan! You truly deserved this!

i see. I think there is one thing lack in our family, i.e. SPORT, we are not very enthusiastic about sport news, although we do watch some popular games once in a while. Zannen :(

Coy: It's a really nice trophy, isn't it? Not the boring conventional type.

Princess Yoyo & fly: Well, different strokes for different folks! Minori's dad can get so hooked on soccer that the world around him stops when there's a good match on tv. Not a good thing!
